Jennifer Cockerill

**The blank white canvas stares at me as if to dare me to begin.  This is the one moment where anxiety and excitement have an equal playing field.  The hardest part of a painting is laying down that first brush stroke, it is the point in which you can no longer go back.  And that stroke of color is the beginning of something wonderful.

Painting for me is a journey.  I begin a painting having an idea of the colors that I want to use but the path is not clear to me.  I have to start the journey before I know where I will end up.  And I always end up in a better place than where I started.  I just have to begin.

My paintings are my diary of those journeys, the emotions and feelings that lead my way.  Each one is a glimpse of where I have been and a promise of where I am going.**

I have been a painter for as long as I can remember.  It is something I have always done and something I will always continue to do.  It is a part of me that will not let go.  I hope you enjoy this site and come to see our show TOUCH on Tuesday May 15th.  The is my first art showing and I am excited to see peoples reactions to my art.  If you have any comments, questions or thoughts please email me at studio_d_artiste@yahoo.com.
